If we were to talk a little about the history of the Bri Bri, when the first Spaniards recognized the other two linguistic groups, Bri and Cabecar, they were certainly surprised, but they treated them as a nation, due to their close similarities in terms of language and the institutions they managed.


Both groups managed to maintain a high degree of independence and isolation from European influence until the end of the 20th century. In 1610 there was a major rebellion against Spanish colonial rule.
