Talamanca is recognized as one of the mountain ranges that cross Costa Rica and Panama, as well as a canton in the province of LimΓ³n. It is one of the most important indigenous territories in Costa Rica, populated by different tribes from the time of the Spanish invasion to the present day: Teribes, Bribris, CabΓ©cares.
The BriBri are found in places such as El Guabo, DaclΓ©, La Golondrina, Soroy, Bris, Nomuwoki, Agua de Salud, Alto Uren and Suko. These communities cover 28,204 hectares. Specifically, they inhabit the banks of the Yorkin and Sixaola rivers, in the extreme northwest of the country.
